January Wrap-up

Well, hasn't the first month of the year just flown by?! It has gone by waaaaaaay too fast!

I finished seven books this month. By comparison, last year I read ten books in January so that's a bit down for me. I was most productive during the first week of January while I was still on Christmas Break. I have been doing good on audiobooks with my work commute, but not so good on my paperbacks which seem to take me forever to read these days! I just can't stay awake long enough at bedtime to sit and read. It's super busy right now for me, with one of my kids in curling and the other in Driver's Ed plus my elder daughter and I are still going to physio twice a week because of the car accident in November. I'm just really short on time right now :(

FROM MY BOOKSHELF:

The Girl in the Ice
by Robert Bryndza
(DCI Erika Foster, Book #10)
4 stars

Boy Meets Boy
by David Levithan
4 stars

Bewitching
by Alex Flinn
(Kendra Chronicles, Book #2)
4 stars

FROM THE LIBRARY:

White Bodies
by Jane Robins
4 stars

FOR REVIEW:

Murder of Crows
by Anne Bishop
(The Others, Book #2)
4 stars

Blood Fury
by J.R. Ward
(Black Dagger Legacy, Book #3)
4 stars

Vision in Silver
by Anne Bishop
(The Others, Book #3)
4 stars

All of the books that I read were 4-star reads, so it is tough to pick a favourite. I think White Bodies would be my favourite, because the book was so fast paced and a bit twisted!

I am not going to pick my least favourite, because I really did enjoy them all!

I discovered three new authors, I started one new series (Bryndza's DCI Erika Foster), I got caught up on one series (Ward's Black Dagger Legacy), and I returned to two series that I unintentionally put down and never got back to (Flinn's Kendra Chronicles and Bishop's The Others). My intention is to finish off both of those series in 2018.

Six of these books were backlist books versus 1 new release (Blood Fury). I'm very happy with that! One of my reading goals for 2018 is to catch up on my TBR and to finish series that I've already started. I'm off to a good start, but I just need to pick up the pace if I want to break 100 this year!

  1. It sounds like you’ve been busy. I’ve also been having problems reading at night. I read 1 chapter and then I’m asleep. It’s not good. I’ll never finish a book this way.
